I. Who Qualifies:
Families in need of decent shelter apply and the family selection committee chooses homeowners based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the loan. Every affiliate follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.
II. How much does a house cost?
Currently in the Ele’ele I luna Subdivision, Houses including the cost of land will range between $165,000 to $ 200,000. (The range is just an average)
**165,000 - 2 BR
**175,000 - 3 BR
**185,000 - 4 BR
Habitat houses are affordable for low-income families because there is no profit included in the sale price. Mortgage length varies from fifteen to thirty years.
III. Applications and Selection process?
To add your name to the waiting list please call the office at (808) 335- 0296 or fill out our Waiting List form online.
When the selection process begins for new houses everyone on the waiting list will be mailed an application.
The Family must have sufficient monthly income from a relatively stable source to make its house payments. Guidelines are based on family income, size of family, and other family indebtedness.
2010 suggested maximum allowable gross income (before deductions) to qualify is:
